Book presentation by alfredo relaño

The Estepona City Council informs that the renowned sports journalist and writer Alfredo Relaño will participate in a new literary event organized by the Library of Contemporary Cultures on the occasion of the presentation of his latest book, '366 footballers of all time who have made history'.

The event will take place next Friday, June 5th, at 8:00 PM in the Concert Hall of the Mirador del Carmen Cultural Center. Admission is free until capacity is reached.

In this publication, Relaño takes a journey through some of the most outstanding players who have marked the history of world football, combining anecdotes, analysis and historical references from the perspective of one of the most influential sports journalists in Spain.

Born in Madrid in 1951, Alfredo Relaño began his studies at the Higher Technical School of Civil Engineering and the Faculty of Law before dedicating himself fully to journalism. He graduated from the Official School of Journalism in Madrid and began his professional career at the newspaper Marca, a job he combined with being the Barcelona correspondent for Mundo Deportivo. He later worked at Pueblo and Arriba, until joining the founding editorial team of El País in 1976.

In 1987 he was appointed sports director of the SER radio network and, two years later, sports director of Canal+. In 1996 he took over as editor of the newspaper AS, a position he held for twenty-three years. After leaving the editorship, he remained involved with the media as a columnist and contributor to El País and SER.

He is the author of titles such as *Futbolcedario*, *El fútbol contado con sencillez*, *Tantos Mundiales, tantas historias*, *Memorias en blanco y negro*, and *El último minuto*, as well as co-author, with Enrique Ortego, of *Gracias, Vieja*, an authorized biography of Alfredo Di Stéfano. He has also published works with Espasa such as *Nacidos para incordiarse*, *366 historias del fútbol mundial que deberías conocer*, *366 (y más) historias de los Juegos Olímpicos que deberías conocer*, and *Pequeña historia de los Juegos Olímpicos*.

In September 2025, he concluded his professional career with the PRISA group after forty-nine years. He currently writes a column for Marca, contributes to El Mundo, and participates as a commentator on COPE's sports broadcasts and the late-night program El Partidazo.

With this activity, the Estepona City Council continues to promote a diverse and high-quality cultural program, bringing the public closer to prominent figures in the national literary and journalistic field.
