The Casa de Las Tejerinas will host the painting exhibition "Between Asphalt and Paper" by Gabriel Campos, a fusion of his two passions: art and the automotive industry.
The opening of the exhibition curated by art historian Mikey Rico will take place next Friday, May 16 at 6:00 p.m. and can be visited until May 28, with free admission.
Estepona City Council announces that Room 1 of Casa de Las Tejerinas, located in Plaza de las Flores, will host the painting exhibition "Between Asphalt and Paper" by Marbella-based artist Gabriel Campos, starting on May 16th at 6:00 p.m.
His works approach realism, with solid lines and mastery of tones that allow him to faithfully produce the most emblematic models in the history of the automobile, from classics such as a 1929 Bentley Blower, to more current ones, such as a 2019 Lamborghini Huracán LP 610 - 4.
The artist focuses on figurative art, using charcoal on paper to achieve a photographic aesthetic in his work.
The exhibition, curated by art historian and consultant Mikey Rico, will open on Friday, May 16, at 6:00 PM. It will remain open until May 28, Tuesday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM and from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with free admission.
Gabriel Campos. The exhibition "Between Asphalt and Paper" presents the work of Gabriel Campos, an artist whose career is marked by the fusion of two passions that have defined his life since childhood: art and the automotive industry. With impeccable technique and a meticulous eye, Campos captures the essence of history's most iconic automobiles, transforming mechanical precision into artistic expressions full of life and movement.
Born in Marbella, Gabriel has been immersed in an environment where luxury and automotive engineering meet at every corner. From a young age, his gaze lingered on the cars that lined the streets of Puerto Banús, not only for their aesthetic beauty but also for their cultural and historical significance. This fascination led him to document these encounters through photography, then transfer them to paper with an exceptional mastery of charcoal.
In this series, Campos not only faithfully reproduces the details of each vehicle, but also conveys the emotion of having seen them in motion, rolling through the streets, like living witnesses of an era. His figurative technique, bordering on hyperrealism, mimics the precision of photography, but with a personal touch that only handwriting can provide.
Each work is a tribute to the history of the automobile, but also a testament to the emotional connection the artist establishes with each model.
The use of charcoal on paper not only highlights the texture and volume of the cars, but also evokes a sense of timelessness, as if these machines were suspended in an eternal moment. Through his work, Gabriel Campos invites us to reflect on the relationship between humans and machines.
"Between Asphalt and Paper" is more than an exhibition; it's a visual journey that combines admiration for automotive engineering with artistic sensibility. Every stroke, every shadow, every detail reminds us that art is not only in what we see, but in what it makes us feel." Mikey Rico.
