Estepona, March 27, 2025.- Estepona City Council informs that the Culture Department's Film Club will continue its spring series next Thursday, April 3, with the screening of 'Milli Vanilli: Girl You Know It's True' (2023), a German film that reconstructs the story of these playback heroes, directed by Simon Verhoeven, with Tijan Njie, Elan Ben Ali, Matthias Schweighöfer and Bella Dayne, among others.
The Grammy Award-winning musical duo Milli Vanilli became the first group to have their award stripped after it was discovered they were a fake company featuring lip-syncing singers. "Girl You Know It's True" was the title of the duo's debut album, which topped the charts for weeks.
Synopsis: 'Milli Vanilli', the duo formed by German Rob Pilatus and French Fab Morvan, became a musical phenomenon in the late 80s and early 90s. With hugely popular songs, they swept the charts around the world. Fab and Rob seemed to have a great career ahead of them, until the truth was revealed: they weren't the ones singing their songs. What followed was one of the biggest scandals in the history of music. Their meteoric rise to fame was eventually overshadowed by their devastating fall.
Due to the film's length (124 minutes), the screening will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Padre Manuel Cultural Center. It will be in the original English version with Spanish subtitles. Free admission until capacity is reached.
