Estepona City Council announces that Room 1 of Casa de Las Tejerinas, located in Plaza de las Flores, will host the painting exhibition "The Red Thread: Reflections on the Feminine" by artist Carla Bressan, starting March 27th.
The painting exhibition, consisting of 20 works, will open on the 27th at 6:00 p.m. and will be open to the public until April 9th. The gallery is open Tuesday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Saturdays, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with free admission.
Carla Bressan was born in Italy and grew up in Venezuela, where she spent her youth. Since 2016, she has lived in Chiclana de la Frontera, Cádiz. She works in communications, marketing, and European projects. She has been painting since she was a child, inspired and creative. “I enjoy transforming the white of the canvas and paper into so many forms of color and shadow… a figure, a landscape, an object… something that previously existed only in the corners of my mind and watching it slowly take shape,” she says. She uses materials from various genres to create “mini installations,” repurposing used canvases to give them “new dignity,” preserving some of their colors, materials, or dress patterns to create some of her works. She works on various media, all using mixed media.
She is particularly interested and concerned about two issues: the environment and women. "I am inspired by and admire the difficulties some women face, often forced to follow social and cultural models that don't always value or empower them."
She holds a BA in Hispanic Literature and Fine Arts from the College of Charleston, South Carolina, USA. She holds a MA in Interdisciplinary Education from Cambridge College, Massachusetts, USA. She has participated in several workshops: in Italy with painter Marco Dolfi and in Cancún with visual artist Carmen Silvana Arcinega Cardoza, Instituto Quintanarroense in Cancún.
He has also participated in group exhibitions in various countries: Austria, Belgium, Spain, USA, Holland, Italy, Lithuania, Mexico, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland.
