The City Council opens the competition for the best "May Crosses Estepona" 25
Registration will be open from March 18 to April 12. The jury will select the seven best Crosses on May 1, with prizes ranging from 300 to 1,000 euros.
Estepona City Council announces that, in honor of the May Crosses festival, the Festival Department has organized a traditional competition to award prizes for the beauty of these altars.
The crosses will be placed in the order of registration in the spaces designated by the Festival Department, although there may not be more than one cross in the same square or street, nor may they be placed within a distance of 200 meters between them.
Those interested in participating can consult the rules on the Notice Board of the City Council's Online Office and download Appendix I at the end of the notice board. Completed registrations can be submitted to the City Council's Registry Office, addressed to the Municipal Festivals Department, until April 12, 2025.
In this new edition, a single category has been announced for the best cross in streets or squares. The Festival Department has established the following prizes: 1,000 euros for first prize; 750 euros for second; and 500 euros for third. The last four finishers will each receive 300 euros.
The jury will evaluate the beauty of the Cross, the ornamentation of the place where it is installed, its adherence to tradition, and the craftsmanship and details employed throughout.
The jury's visit to Las Cruces will take place on the same day as the festival, Thursday, May 1, starting at 12:00 noon without prior notice.
Once the crosses submitted to the competition have been inspected, the jury will issue its verdict after deliberation among its members.
