Estepona carnival 2025
The City Council will celebrate Carnival 2025 with the traditional costume contest and the performance of several comparsas and chirigotas
The Carnival will be held next Saturday, March 1, in the Plaza del Ajedrez, starting at 12:00. The bar will be for the benefit of the Royal Brotherhood of Santa María de los Remedios. In case of rain, the party will be held at the Palace of Exhibitions and Congresses.
Estepona Town Hall informs that the celebration of Carnival 2025 will take place next Saturday, March 1, in the Plaza del Ajedrez, with the following program:
· 12:00 hours: CHILDREN'S CARNIVAL PARTY, with a performance by an entertainment group, singers, and a COSTUME COMPETITION to select the following: Adult NYMPH (150 euros) and Child Nymph (150 euros), Adult GOD MOMO (150 euros), Child GOD MOMO (150 euros), BEST Adult COSTUME (150 euros), BEST Child COSTUME (150 euros), BEST GROUP COSTUME, made up of a minimum of five participants of any age (400 euros) and BEST Largest THEMATIC GROUP (400 euros).
· 2:00 p.m.: Performance by COMPARSAS and CHIRIGOTAS.
- Chirigota from Estepona/San Pedro 'YOUR FACE SOUNDS FAMILIAR'. Directed by Alberto Benitez Lainez; and lyrics and music by Jose Miguel Mata del Rio and A. Benitez Lainez.
- Estepona Chirigota 'I'M IN CHARGE HERE'. Direction, Alejandro Higuero; lyrics and music, the group; and musical director, José González.
- Marbella troupe: 'THE FOOLISH BICYCLES'. Direction: Antonio Quiñones Campos; lyrics: Guillermo Guerrero Melero and Miguel Ángel Vera Granados; and music: MA Vera Granados.
· 17:00 hours: BURIAL OF THE SARDINE. The procession will leave the Plaza del Ajedrez along Avenida Valencia, Calle Zaragoza, Calle Terraza, heading towards La Rada beach, near the Post Office, where the “DANA” sardine will be set on fire. The procession, which is recommended to be accompanied by strict and exaggerated mourning, will be “livened up” by a group of mourners and carnival groups.
Estepona Town Hall encourages everyone to participate in costume, either as a group or individually, thus adding more joy and colour to the Carnival. In case of rain, the events in the Plaza del Ajedrez will be moved to the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos.
