CORAL MAGNUM MYSTERIUM. Originally called 'Villa de Estepona', the Coral Magnum Mysterium was founded in 1987 thanks to the initiative of a group of enthusiasts in love with choral polyphony. In its beginnings it was configured as a Chamber Choir dedicated to the study and interpretation of Spanish and European polyphony of the Renaissance and
Baroque, and in later years it opened up to diverse works, styles and eras, delving into the popular and religious music of Latin America, Eastern Europe and especially Sephardic music. Its repertoire also includes popular and religious music by contemporary composers.
In 1992, the Choir was established as a non-profit Cultural Association, with the aim of promoting the study and practice of quality polyphonic choral music, promoting and participating in concerts and individual and collective musical performances, both in Spain and abroad.
He is currently a member of the Malaga Federation of Choirs, the Andalusian Confederation and the Spanish Choral Confederation. Its principal conductor, Miguel Ángel Garrido Sánchez, has been conducting choirs in the city of Málaga for over 57 years and also holds the Professional Piano and Superior Solfeggio and Improvisation qualifications, and is also a graduate in Choral Conducting and Orchestra Conducting. He has been a Professor at the Higher Conservatory of Music and the Professional Manuel Carra in Málaga. Currently, he is a singer for the Ibero-American group Tantanakuy, directs the Rafael Baeza Choir in Marbella, and has been the director of the Magnum Mysterium Choir in Estepona since 1995.
