Pastry competition 'sweet christmas estepona'
The City Council announces the 'Sweet Christmas Esteponera' Pastry Competition.
The final will take place on December 15 at the Estepona Hospitality School, CESHMA, in the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos. The registration period will end on November 15.
Estepona Town Hall is holding the 'Sweet Estepona Christmas: Festival of Flavours and Traditions' Pastry Competition, organised by the Town Hall, in collaboration with the Málaga Centre for Higher Hospitality Studies and Frutas y Verduras Acosta.
This competition is open to participants over 18 years of age, and individuals or groups may submit their proposals. Those interested in participating may register until November 15, 2024 at the Estepona Town Hall Electronic Office or at the General Registry. Along with personal data, they must provide a descriptive report of the proposed recipe, describing the ingredients and the preparation process, as well as a photograph or graphic representation of the recipe in any of the categories: a) Christmas cakes and pies, b) Reinvented traditional sweets, or c) Free creations inspired by Estepona Christmas.
The jury will be made up of professionals from the sector and will be chaired by Ignacio Pascual Madueño, director of CESMA, Estepona School of Hospitality.
Once the registration period has ended, the jury will meet and select, if applicable, 12 participants to participate in the in-person final of the competition on December 15. On that day, they will be able to prepare their culinary creations at the headquarters of the hospitality school, in the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Among other criteria, the jury will take into account the use of local and typical seasonal ingredients, as well as flavour and texture, presentation and aesthetics, originality and creativity, and the relationship of the creations with the theme of the 'Christmas in Estepona' competition.
The following prizes have been established and will be awarded at the end of the competition: from the City Council, a professional mixer and kneading machine for the best dessert; a basket of products and a professional mixer from Frutas y Verduras ACOSTA for the second best recipe; and a complete pastry kit from CESHMA for the third place winner.
