Summer 2024 cultural agenda program

The Estepona City Council will offer more than a hundred cultural and leisure activities during the summer months

Concerts by Andy and Lucas, Serafín Zubiri, Daniel Casares and Javier Ojeda, along with festivals of different musical and theater styles, are some of the events planned.

The 25th edition of the International Fantastic Film Week, the World Ham Contest with eight free concerts, Fashion Week and Summer Cinema in the gardens of the Orquidario Botanical Park, will be added to this varied program

Summer Cultural Agenda Program 2024

The deputy mayor of the Sociocultural area, Paula Herrera; and the councilor assigned to the Festival delegation, Macarena Diánez, have presented the Summer Cultural Agenda that the City Council has organized for the coming months and which includes more than a hundred activities, the most varied and aimed at all audiences.

Paula Herrera explained that once again this year the concerts offered by the Municipal Music Band will have a special role. It will be every Sunday from July 14. Among them, the concert that will close the season on August 25 and which will feature the special participation of the singer and composer Serafín Zubiri has stood out.

In addition, a Theater Festival will take place with the representation of the works 'Varietés' by the Municipal Theater Group, on Thursday, August 15; 'Mouling Legend' by the Musical Theatre, on Friday, August 16; and 'La Llamada' from the Teatro Cómico, on Saturday, August 17.

Comedy will also have a very important space, with shows that will be held in the Plaza de Toros, such as the monologue 'La Capital del Pecado 2.0' that will be offered by Madrid comedian Juan Dávila on August 1 and 2. On August 9 Garrapata vs Trinchera, two of the great characters that remain in the history of the Cádiz comic carnival, will measure their knowledge in a television program. And on August 10, the well-known comedian and television presenter Ángel Martín will present his monologue 'Punto para los locos'.

From September 7 to 14, the 25th anniversary of the International Fantastic Film Week will be celebrated, with a monograph on the history of this festival. Thus, it will feature great characters such as director Claudio Fragasso, Honorary Unicorn Award 2024; and with actors Alex O'Dogerthy, José Pastor Elia Galera and Salva Reina, who will collect the award for best TV series for 'Mano de Hierro'. The Azpiri Award for Best Graphic Illustrator will go to Santiago Padilla and the Godfather of the Festival will be the comic actor Miguel Ángel Martín.

This year the Summer Cinema repeats, which will take place every Wednesday with the free screening of eight films. Another event that cannot be missed in the summer is the Book Fair from July 11 to September 8, which at its opening will feature the writers Rafael Javier Pérez Pallarés and Francisco Quintero González

For their part, the little ones will be able to enjoy a story marathon on July 18 and the 'TiterEstepona 2024' Festival that will offer three shows on August 23, September 6 and 13.

For the young public, a Solidarity Geek Market will be offered on August 10 with numerous activities, participatory, inclusive games for all audiences, adapted to the geek theme. And from September 6 to 8, a new edition of the Costa del Sol Manga Festival will arrive at the Exhibition and Congress Palace.

The councilor assigned to the Fiestas delegation, Macarena Diánez, highlighted the concerts of Daniel Casares and Javier Ojeda, vocalist of Danza Invisible, on August 1, and that of Andy and Lucas on August 24.

Continuing with the musical panorama, the mayor has also referred to the multiple events with classical music, such as on July 11 the performance of the Colonia Chamber Philharmonic, on July 20 the concert of a Wind Trio from the García Fajer Foundation On July 13, the baritone and musician David Geary will present the show 'Film Music', on September 6 we will have the Málaga Camerata orchestra and on September 27 we will enjoy the concert of the pianist María Icíar Serrano.

Lyrics will also have a space within this program, with the zarzuela 'La verbena de la Paloma' on July 19 and the opera 'La Flute magic' on July 20.

The 'Espeto Fest' also returns from July 25 to 27, the World Music Festival, on August 30 and 31 and on September 1. In addition, the Bullring will be the scene of various tributes to great artists. On August 3 there will be a Festival of the 80s and 90s, on August 4 a tribute to Mecano, on August 15 to the great bands the Bee Gees, the Rolling Stones and Colplay and on August 23 to Dire Straits.

Other events that arouse the most interest are the World Ham Competition, which will be held from August 8 to 15 on the Paseo Marítimo, and which, in addition to the best Iberian products, will offer free concerts. Another activity related to gastronomy and music will be the Wine Street Jazz on July 27.

This varied program also includes Fashion Week from September 25 to 28, which also includes the V Young Designers' Contest 'Estepona de Moda', which this year will distribute 3,000 euros among the best classified.

And finally, make reference to solidarity events such as the Aprona White Night on July 27, the Remedios Luna Verbena on August 3, the XV Reunión Motera on August 4, the Dolores Verbena 2024 on August 17 and the II Cofrade Fair 'The Legacy of Estepona' on September 14 and 15.

The delegations of Culture, Festivals, Sports, Tourism and Citizen Participation have participated in the Summer Cultural Agenda.
