The Estepona City Council informs that the Municipal Library, located in the Padre Manuel Cultural Center, will host, from September 20 to October 6, the exhibition 'Letters vs. Fotogramas', composed of a collection of covers and posters of the most famous stories of serial killers in literary and cinematographic fiction, according to the thematic axis of the XXIV International Fantastic Film Week of the Costa del Sol, recently held.
The collection presents a sample of those works that have versions in both media (literary and cinematographic), through which we can appreciate how these chilling stories and characters come to life on the big screen.
In the exhibition, which can be visited from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., you can see mythical thriller novels adapted to film, such as 'The Silence of the Lambs' ', by Thomas Harris, with Hannibal Lecter by Anthony Hopkins; 'Psycho', by Robert Bloch, turned into a classic of the seventh art by Alfred Hitchcock; 'The Men Who Didn't Love Women', by Stieg Larsson, made into a film twice; or 'The Silence of the White City', by Eva García Sáenz de Urturi, with a film version that starred Belén Rueda and Javier Rey, among many others.
Likewise, the exhibition includes other different cases, such as 'Seven', a film by David Fincher, later turned into a book; 'Zodia'c, also directed by Fincher, based on the real case of the 'Zodiac Killer', about which numerous publications have been written; or the manga 'Monster', by Naoki Urasawa, and its adaptation into an anime series.
To conclude the exhibition 'Letters vs. Fotogramas' dedicated to the “Serial Killers”, the film critic and journalist Carlos Morcillo, will offer a conference in which he will present the commemorative book 'The Mark of the Assassin', the eleventh and last publication in the series 'The Mark of...' , of the film festival, in which he participates along with six other authors, who give their particular vision of serial killers, in reality and fiction, from their professional perspectives. Published by Ediciones Sakana, Morcillo provides in the book a compendium of reviews and technical sheets of the most iconic films of this genre, under the title 'A Matter of Blood: the serial killer in 50 films.
