The Estepona City Council informs that the Sevillian photographer Joaquín Arjona will present this Saturday, March 25, at 12:00 p.m., in the Alfonso Gil Alfonso Hall of the Casa de Las Tejerinas, the book 'José Tomás, the bullfighting of a Myth' .

Published in April 2022 by the Firma Arjona, currently made up of the photographers Agustín, Joaquín and Agustín Jr, 'José Tomás, the bullfighting of a Myth' is an art book that compiles a selection of the best photographs owned by the Arjona archive of this enigmatic bullfighter, since 1995, illustrating a magnificent text written by Santi Ortiz, where he analyzes bullfighting, values, meaning and significance of this historic bullfighting figure with exquisite depth and rigor.

A careful deluxe edition, with the best quality paper and printing, and impressive images (the book has more than 140 photographs), make this book an essential work for any self-respecting bullfighting fan.

Joaquín Arjona (Seville, 1978), is the 4th generation of bullfighting photographers from the Arjona dynasty, which began more than a century ago, back in the early years of the 20th century. From a very young age, he forged his love for the world of bullfighting, accompanying his grandfather Pepe Arjona to bullfights and to the countryside. In 1993, when he was only fourteen years old, he published his first photo in the bullfighting weekly Applause. It was a Corpus Christi afternoon, when he went to the Plaza de la Real Maestranza in Seville with a camera that he borrowed from his grandfather, and since then he has not stopped working.

At the age of fifteen, he formed a “terna” with his grandfather and uncle to cover the April Fair in Seville in 1994. Forging himself as a professional first with his grandfather, and continuing his training with his uncle Agustín, he became a regular collaborator with the bullfighting weekly 'Applause', combining his vocation and photographic work with his university studies, graduating in Art History at the University of Seville.

In 2002 he took a professional leap and joined the editorial staff of the magazine '6Toros6' as a photographer, where he still continues to publish his work, attending the main fairs in Spain, France and Mexico and producing high-quality field reports.

In 2015 Arjona, a century of bullfighting moments, the culminating work and anthology of the best selection of photographs by the members that make up the 4 generations of photographers of this Sevillian house, was published. Since 2017, he has published the Arjona Bullfighting Yearbook, which consists of a selection of the best images of each season, the mystery of the bullfighting field, the most outstanding photographs of the great tasks and curious photos of the different details of the Fiesta Brava; a photographic summary captured through the lens of the three members of the Arjona Firm. Since 2019 he has directed the bullfighting cultural magazine Tauro Magazine.
