The Estepona City Council informs that this Friday, March 24, at 6:00 p.m., the presentation of the latest book by Aurelio Gurrea Chalé, entitled 'Recuerdos flamencos de un jurista', a compilation of newspaper articles on flamenco, published by the lawyer, economist and musician, tireless researcher of the most universal Andalusian artistic expression.
Published in October 2022 by the ImagenTa publishing house, the author considers that “we are facing an open book as a symbol of honesty without deceit. And it comes to light precisely at a time when flamenco is generally not taken into consideration in the media, since the owners have the perception that it does not generate money. That is, cultural journalism is scorned when it is classified as a service that consists of bringing knowledge to the public, constituting a bridge between academic knowledge and popular knowledge”.
That is the role that flamenco journalism assumed in the eighties of the last century and that was occupied by Aurelio Gurrea Chalé. “Not only narrate events, but make news consumers acquire new knowledge through accessible knowledge and with the aim of raising awareness. Because not all culture sections of a newspaper or radio program necessarily educated, but rather what they did was prepare cultural notes and report on various types of events, without the journalist relying on personal research in order to transmit knowledge and experiences, not merely information”, considers the author.
