FATHER MANUEL CULTURAL CENTER

Activity "spring of stories for equality"

The City Council starts the activity "Spring of stories for equality" to educate on these values and prevent gender violence

The activity begins this Friday, March 24 and will run until June, at the Padre Manuel Municipal Library.

On Friday, March 24, a new edition of the activity 'Spring of Stories for Equality' will begin, given the success of the last call. With this cycle of storytelling, it is intended to promote education in values, with special attention to equality with the elimination of sexist stereotypes that corset both women and men; as well as for the prevention of gender violence. The activity will be held one Friday a month, until next June.

The deputy mayor of the Sociocultural area, Begoña Ortiz, has highlighted the importance of continuing to work in favor of equality and promoting actions that promote it. In this regard, he has pointed out that education is key for the new generations to grow up with a more diverse vision of society and without gender discrimination.

The cycle, which will take place in the Elvira Lindo Room of the Municipal Library of the Padre Manuel Cultural Center, is made up of four storytellers for children and families. The first will be carried out by the Cientacientos Cuentapies Storytelling Association, with the narrators Natalia Jiménez, Alicia G. Acosta and Natalia, who have a long history in this type of activity.

On this occasion they will stage the story '1, 2, 3 the world upside down', aimed at children aged 4 and over, with which they will be transported to an imaginary place called 'Desigualdalandia', where everything seems to be upside down. With the stories that make up this story, the narrators will work on content such as: stereotyped gender roles, respectful and non-violent communication, and creativity and divergent thoughts.

This initiative is a continuation of the line of work that the municipal delegation for Women has been developing in the fight against inequality based on gender, with actions to raise awareness among the general public.

Attendance at the storytelling will be free until full capacity is reached.

'Spring of Stories for Equality' is an activity financed by the Funds of the State Pact against Gender Violence of the Secretary of State for Equality and against Gender Violence of the Ministry of Equality.
