The City Council opens the period for the contest of the best 'Cruces de Mayo Estepona 2023'
The registration period will remain open from today to April 14. The jury will choose the best Crosses on May 1 and they will be awarded 1,000, 500, 250 and five second prizes of 100 euros.
The Estepona City Council informs that, on the occasion of the celebration of the Cruces de Mayo festival, the municipal delegation of Fiestas has organized the traditional popular contest for May 1 in which the beauty of these altars will be rewarded.
The location of the crosses will be made in order of arrival of the requests, in the spaces designated by the Consistory, although there may not be more than one cross in the same square or street, nor at a distance of less than 200 meters between them.
Those interested in participating can consult the bases on the Notice Board of the Electronic Headquarters of the City Council https://estepona.sedelectronica.es/board/ , and download Annex I that appears at the end of them, which must be completed, accompanied by a photocopy of the DNI of the responsible person, through the City Hall Entry Register, addressed to the municipal delegation of Culture and Festivals. The registration period will remain open from March 14 to April 14.
In this new edition, a single category has been called for the best cross in streets or squares, whose first three classified will receive 1,000 euros, 500 euros, 250 euros and a trophy, respectively, in addition to five second prizes of 100 euros.
The jury will assess the beauty of the Cross, the ornamentation of the place where it is installed, its adaptation to tradition, and the craftsmanship and details used in the Cross as a whole.
The jury's visit to Las Cruces will take place the same day as the celebration, Monday, May 1, starting at 12:00 p.m., without prior notice.
